For my project I was going to use a 125 psi safety relief valve as my pilot valve. However after receiving it today, it takes entirely too much force to actuate. I was wondering if anyone had used something like this as their pilot valve:

Assuming I block off the line flow of air and just use it to vent to atmosphere, it should work

I believe Clide used it on his semi...
Well I never figured out if it was homebuilt or not, but here it is:

If you were trying to actuate it at atmospheric pressure it wold be harder than at say 100psig.

The valve will still open rather easily at pressure.

This is the same "type" of valve used to isolate paintball markers from the co2 supply(mounted on the remote line). Paintball markers typically use one of 1/8"npt size, but given the design, operating force shouldn't be noticeably different in the 1/2" one.
Fastenal has them for a bit less too.

IIRC (and I believe I do.
) Ragnarok used one to pilot the qev pilot on heal. Seemed to work just fine at the 300 psi or so he was using.
