Performance loss of remote activation?

Hello,

I just completed a 1 inch piston valve with 3/4 inch porting (will be in showcase soon), but I would like to place the trigger at different place on the gun than where the valve is.

It is a 1 inch piston valve actuated by a 1 inch sprinkler valve. I originally threaded a blowgun into the pilot area of the sprinkler valve to actuate it faster than the solenoid could, but I was wondering if this even matters because the valve is being used as a pilot valve, not a main valve. It would be really nice to be able to electronically actuate it, but I don't want to suffer any performance losses.

Basically, would actuating the piston valve using a solenoid activated sprinkler valve vs a blowgun activated sprinkler valve cause any performance loss?

I doubt it, 1" sprinkler valve piloting a 1" piston is serious over-kill.

It shouldn't make that much of a difference, but you can always have a blowgun/ballvalve pilot for the sprinkler actuated by a rod or cable.

What about a blowgun extended by pressure tubing... A barb fitting on the sprinkler valve. Would that actuate it faster than the solenoid?

You'll increase pilot volume but flow will still be better than a solenoid.

Really though as MrC said, a 1" sprinkler piloting a 1" piston is so overkill that you're not realyl going to see a difference.

I piloted this 1" piston with a schrader...

The reasons I am using a 1 inch SV are because
-I have a relatively large pilot volume for the piston valve
-I had it on hand

It's working quite well - I got a cork going 700 FPS at 120 PSI.

Technically, the 1" sprinkler valve has a larger port diameter than the piston valve.

no performance loss.
