Running a solenoid valve off wall power

Hi there,
Has anyone had success with running a solenoid-piloted sprinkler valve off of wall power, presumably with the appropriate converter? I have a large stationary system actuated by a solenoid valve about a foot from a socket. Currently I am using 3 9-volt batteries in series, which works fine, except that they drain reasonably fast (this is a high-use system). More importantly, it is critical that the range of the device be very consistent, and I suspect that as the batteries run down the valve performance changes, screwing everything up. So does anyone have any advice on running the valve off USA wall power?
Thanks
