i am looking for a air tank that will hold at least 150 psi with 1" or 3/4" threads, i have seen fire extinguishers used, how well do they work? the size i am looking for is about the same as the fire extinguisher.

I belive they do not have NPT threads and modifications must be made.

Use a short steel nipple that fits inside the threads of the tank and a strong epoxy. Rough up the contacting surfaces with sandpaper before bonding. This will give you male threads to attach into your system.

Small refillable Propane tanks have 3/4 thread in the US. They come is smaller sizes such as 1 gallon with the full size BBQ valve. Nominal working pressure is 260 PSI.

If you look for them, you can find them with the obsolete POL valve for free. I have 2 of them. :D I have a couple of 11 lb, 25 lb and 45 lb. I'm using an 11 lb for my 2.5 inch QDV. I have future plans for a 3 inch and 4 inch in the larger tanks.
