hi!

About a year ago, i had a grazy airgun-bug bite, i just wanted to make an airgun, i didnt even have tools to make one :D . Then the idea vent gone when i got busy making blades, and now it starts again. The idea is to build .22 or .25 airgun, with pretty low-budged. I LOLed when i saw the price-tags on the Lothar-Walther airgun barrels, and searched the Net some more. I heard that crosman barrels are cheap, but i cant find any! i need o rifle sized barrel, we are tlaking over 18 inch barrel. Can somebody help me and tell where would i get an inexpensive barrel?

first, ill make a prototype, and mayby some DAKKA DAKKA things are coming... :D

I have never ordered a rifle barrel, but to get the pistol barrel you get the barrel's part number from the exploded parts view, here is a link to the Crossman page for the rifles

http://www.crosman.com/airguns/service/ ... man-rifles

For example I checked the model C8M22, which is a .22 cal, downloaded the exploded parts view pdf and found the barrel's part number is B19‐3‐01‐100‐5.5 for the .22 cal version. Also Crossman has placed their phone number to order parts at the top of the pdf,

Phone: (800) 724‐7486
Parts Order Fax: (585) 657‐5405

As I stated, never done it for rifle parts, but I have for pistol parts.

Not to sure if that particular barrel fits your needs, just an example. You may even have to modify the barrel you find just a bit, but it would be a good start for a rifled barrel.

modification is not a problem, i can use a lathe. Right now this desing is going for more big-bore scale, but i still need to know where to get the barrel when i need it :D

i got one question: can i get good accuracy with smoothbore barrel? caliber im thinking is .30, because i can get rifle rounds cheap.

Crosman prt# for a 24" .22 barrel...2260-003

24" .177 barrel is 1760-001

Use full length, or cut and crown to preference. :)

Rifle bullets will not stabilize in a smooth bore barrel.

You could try and order the barrel directly from Crosman...worst they can do is point you at a distributor in Finland.

Or order it from one of the MANY purveyors of airgun madness in the US.

Are you sure that applies to non-UK customers? It might be a term of the (ridiculous) VCR act, and they state the following:
It only affects the UK.

Non UK buyers are not affected in any way.

It's a German manufacturer, so I think they deliver to Finland.

In other news:

I just went out to my local DIY shop and bought 1m of extruded aluminium tube with 8mm OD and 6mm ID for £4.50 or about €5.30 in funny money.

I just need to finish off the ends and inside surfaces with fine wire wool and damp cotton wool to get rid of manufacturing burrs and metal dust.

So hows the search for a cheap barrel getting on guys :)

I get my 1 metre lengths 7mm OD/6mm I/D brass tubing for a similar amount of "funny money" and it doesn't need finishing ;)

As to accuracy from smoothbore barrels, have a look at this:

Granted, it's not exactly a one hole group, but given that it was a lightweight 12 bore fired standing, unsupported and over open sights, pretty darn good shooting.

I'm sure that shooting from a bench with a red dot or low magnification scope, all the shots could have at least be kept on the 55 gallon drum.
