This is a project that I completed a few months ago, I just never got around to posting it. This is really just a trial version, so there are many changes that need to be made before I would call it finished, but I don't think I will do anything with it until after I finish building an airsoft sentry.

The remote control system is actually something that I made that could be used with a lot of different cannons. I made it out of the electronic parts from a remote controlled airplane. I disconnected the motors and soldered a relay in place of them. The other part of the relay is then connected to the solenoid valve circuit. Then I changed around the controller by soldering a momentary switch in place of the joystick (one switch for the forward/backward stick, and one switch for the left/right stick, which gives me two separate channels). I added a molex connector to the receiver housing to make it easy to connect the receiver to different launchers

This system works incredibly well. I can have it connected to two cannons at once and fire them individually (from up to 500 feet away ).

The rest of the launcher is very simple. It uses a QEV with a solenoid valve to pilot it. I normally load five to 10 bbs into each barrel to increase the coverage area of the launcher.

This launcher was designed to be skirmish-able, so the pressure is limited to 100 PSI when it is used in a battle to prevent injury.


Air chamber: 1 1/4" x 6" steel pipe

Main valve: 3/4" Quick exhaust valve

Pilot valve: Small solenoid valve

Barrels: 12 short lengths of 5/16" brake line

Operating pressure: 25-200 PSI.

Muzzle velocity: up to 450 fps (per barrel)

Yes, I have some camo netting that I cover it with as much as possible. It is somewhat effective, but I think the best thing to do is just hide it as well as possible to begin with and try not to rely on the camouflage too much.

Yes, the barrels are angled up slightly. I did that not only to improve the range, but to keep the bbs from rolling out of the barrel as well.

I am not sure if that unit would work, but from the description it sounds like it could.

Looks good! Certainly a little bulky but that's nothing you can't get around.

Yeah, the launcher itself could be drastically reduced in size, which is one of the things I will change when I go to make the final version of it. The only problem is that the PVC tube that houses all of the electronic components has to be that large in order to hold all of the batteries and switches and such.

Here's a video with a description of how it works, plus a couple of shots at the end. The video is boring, but it should give you an idea of what this thing does.

I have one of those units, there is also a cheaper less amperage unit that works well too..

range is pretty decent as far as open line of sight, but nothing crazy like the remote control for an airplane...
