Drilling into the pressure chamber?

Boom! The classic potato gun harnesses the combustion of flammable vapor.

Hey guys, new here. Got a question...........

Working on a combustion spud gun with a 1:1 C:B ratio. The chamber is also the same dia. as the barrel. It is not meant to be a super high performance spud gun and is achieving the results I want.

My question is this........

Is it ok to drill into the pressure chamber in multiple places for mounting purposes? Two hoes will be for mounting, and 1 or 2 for ignition. Not sure if I will use the end cap location for the ignition wires.

1.5" sch 80 with 2, 1/4 mounting bolts? Hoping it wont explode on me?

I'll post my project up once I get a bit more progress.

You'll be good, so long as you seal off the holes to avoid the little flame jets that will otherwise burn all sorts of things.

Seriosuly though, you should be fine if this is just a 1x combustion. Drill the holes slightly smaller than your bolts and seal them in with JB weld or similar.

A couple small holes will be fine.

If you are really paranoid then slice up a coupler (cut it in half once longitudinally then once vertically) to make four mounting plates with the same ID as your chamber's OD. Glue the pieces in the places you are going to be putting the holes in the chamber. This'll give you twice the plastic thickness which will help get gas-tight seals around the bolts and also reinforce the chamber in the vicinity of the holes.
