One thing that I don't like is the quick connect fitting... somehow I wouldn't feel safe when my eye was so close to a QC on a gun filled to 500 psi or so

I've used brass quick connect fittings at 1,000psi repeatedly no problems. The ball valves went first

Probably not that significant in terms of the accuracy of the launcher and the range you're shooting at, but you're better off with a small notch as opposed to a circular hole.
