First of all, i wasn't quite sure if I should put this in the bb or pneumatics showcase but i ended up putting it in with the pneumatics since its single shot and my primary ammo isn't something round...

This build is the result of peer pressure from jsr :)
I was urged to build a metal mini pneumatic and so i did... with higher pressures, the difference is insane

Before i saw off the barrel, i want to see what the guns full potential is, so that is the reason for the super long barrel

ImageSpecs:

Barrel: 3mm or 1/8in id brass
Chamber: 8mm id copper
Normal operating pressure: 250psi
Primary Ammo: lead shot and lead/tin slugs
Valve: Piston
Trigger: pen cap that presses on the schrader

The Piston:

pointed slug next to my pinky :) Image

the power is actually surprisingly great. I shot through 2 coke cans full of water  (poor mans chronograph)

Some lead shot after passing through 2 layers of cardboard and hitting a hard wall:

And finally, the video:

I Just finished polishing it. The Brass looks 10 times better than the copper which is kinda disappointing because i was hoping it would be the other way around.
It looks MUCH better in person

Well I went ahead and cut my barrel shorter and cut a working sharpie tip off a sharpie and made it removable, ya that's right, it writes now
Luckily, It still has the exact same power.

here it is:

I also started screwing around with it and made a detachable airsoft barrel from a pen tube.
It exceeds any of my expectations. Just got through 2 cans!! :)

Wow that thing has some balls for a pengun!! How many psi are you able to actually get into it? Peer pressure always seems to get great results!

haha success!

See, told you so :)

Next step, but a shock pump so you can go to the 300-400 psi range ;)

i would feel safe taking it to about 350 psi but after that i would start to get nervous.
Peer pressure always seems to get great results
yes yes it does :D

Lol that is like identicle to mine even though my chamber is stainless steel  Even the damage! Have you tried ball bearings? I shot through 2 cans with one in mine. Good work!

i just finished it today and when i finished i realized how similar it is to yours. the only difference is that my chamber is abit larger than yours. :D No i havent tried ball bearings because i dont know were to get the right size. Where do you get yours from or do you just hack the bearings to get the balls like i do :? also 2 empty cans or 2 full?

I got them off a fan chain, they aren't quite 1/8", just a few hundredths short haha but they work good, I have to cut them off the chain. I can get real 1/8" SS bearings at the hardware store though. I got 2 empty cans, haven't tried water filled, but based on the exit wound I'd say it has a chance with water filled cans :D I'll try it now.

whats a fan chain :D
the reason i wanted ball bearings is because their precision made and i can get tonns of them, but i think the best type of ammo ive made so far is a pointed little slug like the one you in the picture except i used a drill-press to drill holes in the back so the pellets fly straight in the air. it actually works because i was sniping cans from across my room  and when i missed a few times all the rounds were squashed in the front

I tested mine against water filled cans, couldnt get through one using 1/8" balls and 250 psi! Tomorrow I'll give it another go with sharpened bullets!

dude just use lead shot with a bit of wadding if you can get a hold of some. my woodshop teacher has a whole jar of lead shot for reasons i dont quite understand :o
oh and holes in the middle of your ammo tend to affect velocity a bit haha
:D

Gun freak- considering our guns are so similar, you should be getting about this amount of power with the right ammo (pointed lead slugs)
