I just bought a 1kg fire extinguisher and have emptied it already,I want to find out if I can turn it into an air source. I am unsure of how it works, this kind is not a chemical reaction kind, it is just the substance with air pressureized above it.That is what I think. Here are some photos of what I have done. I don't know what to do form here and I need help.

looks like a DC extinguisher, dump all that shit outta the tank (wear a mask just in case) and then just go from there, i took off the gauge on mine and put on a quick connect for my air compressor, if you're going to use it for an air source i'd tap the nozzle and put a hose on there with a quick connect for filling pneumatics.

It is tapped, everything is tapped and threaded.

So I must make sure that the fire extinguisher must be filled through the port where the pressure gauge was?
What about the other side?
I looked at the valve and it is really simple, I will keep it on there.I have also emptied all the crap out of there.

The substance is dry chemical... basically dry chemical is a chalky powder, completely non toxic, it just makes you feel weird and maybe cough if you breathe it in but its not toxic.

Ok, today I am going to buy some stuff for it.

Iall ready made one, it shoots pens, it has a shrader valve and a PSIG, what is the maz psi on a fire exstinugsher? Ill get a pic up soon.

Having the pressure gauge on it would be nice, so what I would do is just add a "T" in between the tank and the valve, and that would be where your air inlet goes.

I modified a fire extenguisher before, one of those old CO2 ones (very heavy) and I just used it for exhausting my combustion after firing it and such crap. I had a quick connect on the outlet where I would connect something for the air to go out, and then I would just connect the air compressor to it and open the valve to repressurize the tank. But, this is a little different than your situation.

The threads on this one are irregular so I can't just screw in a fitting. I will have to weld a fitting in.

just get the closest fitting. wrap it in teflon. thread it in then run a bead of solder around the rim

Do what spudstuff said, but instead of solder use some jb weld.

Agree w/ Benny. Take it to a hardware store and find whatever fitting goes in it the best, then give it two or three wraps of Teflon tape, thread it in with a wrench, and then JBweld it in (inside and out if possible). That sucker wont' come back out.

I might try this for use with a little cloud bbmg strafer.
