Hey hey! I finally figured out how to reduce the filesize of my pics, so that I can post them. Here is my cannon, it is 4" chamber with 2" barrel. It uses a 3" cap as piston with a thick gummy sink gasket as a seal for the 2". The aluminum side rails and shoulder stock were bent/riveted together by me out of I think old retail display hardware. Turned out OK. The cannon works excellent. I originally had a spring behind piston, but scrapped it. I have only shot balls of tape thus far (indoor tests), they crush coffee cans quite nicely

haha, yeah alot of people do that. anyways nice piston pneumatic. are the slates on the side of your cannon for support? or just for show?

Well, they're for a couple things. In the future I'm going to mount this cheap airgun scope that I have, and I wanted the flat surface to attach the scope mount to. Also, I was worried about breaking my solenoid or fitting off of my sprinkler valve, so I extended the rails back past the valve. The rails also make the cannon less likely to roll on a tabletop or other flat surface. I'm doing away with the zip ties as soon as I feel like buying some of those cable clamps that fold around and then screw down flat. I also want to box in the area around the sprinkler valve with more aluminum pieces to afford it more protection. Me walking around with this thing is kind of like the Three Stooges bit with the ladder, know what I mean? It's hard to keep track of where both ends are and I've spent too much time on this to want to break off the 1" pipe or valve.
P.s. Spudstuff: The barrel is made of 2" sch.40 and is about six feet and the chamber is 4"sch.40 about 4 feet long. The piston is super simple its just a 3" cap that I glued a thick gummy sink gasket to with Goop. The valve is allowed to move back 2" when open. I figured that anything more than an inch of movement backward would pretty much remove any restriction to airflow. I haven't gone above 60 psi yet, and I can get two good shots out of a 50 psi fill.

Is this your first? because its a very very very clean looking piston cannon, What is the range with a potato?

Thanks for the info Irwinner. I was wondering about something like that. I 'll give it a try. Glad you like it Benny, this is my first pneumatic, but I built many simple combustions in my teen years. I've always wanted to build a pneumatic, but gave up after not finding a valve back then. I haven't been able to do an outdoor test yet 'cause I live in a very congested residential area with uppity neighbors. I'm dying to give it a try with real ammo outdoors. I'll figure something out pretty soon or just stick the barrel out the window and let one go

i like the trigger. is it a shouldermount or what tho? seems kinda big if so
