Is their anyway I can mod a 80mm into a 40mm???
Welcome to the forums.
Not that I know of. You could attempt to take the fan and motor out of the housing and trim down the blades to 40mm, but I don't think you'll be able to keep it together and working.
Look through some old computers. P3's and before used 40mm's on the CPUs, and most machines still use 40mm's on the graphics cards.
You can also use the dollar-store type camping fans.
