Hey everyone, I was thinking about making an m203 launcher for airsoft or paintball since it is very expensive to buy one. I made a diagram of what I think will work. If you do not think it will work, please tell me what I should change to make it work better.

Thanks

edit::Instead of the pressure release valve thing, im jus going to put a ball valve

I am unclear here as to what your valve setup is.... Do you have a piston valve? Is it a barrel sealer? Other than that, I think it looks great.

Look around at some of the pneumatics on this site. You need a chamber, where a pressurized gas is stored a barrel and a valve to release the air from the chamber to the barrel.

o okay, i get it. Instead, ill probably use a ball valve. I was going to use a pressure release valve and i was going to kind of work like this. http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=main/7/1 ... .jpg&s=f10

well i already have a chamber, a barrel, and now, im prob gonna use a ball valve.

Pics arent workin mate but I'd say go with a grenade designed and built on this site just on a bigger scale.

for the grenade, im j us gonna get a toilet roll and make it smaller. Put the bb's or paintball in. Then put saran wrap or w/e on top of the toilet roll. Sorry about the links, its been fixed.

u wont be able to aim that good with a ball valve... plus it may cost u just as much if not more than a sprinkler valve.. buy a 1 inch sprinkler from any local irrigation store or home depot/lowes...

modify the valve for pneumatic actuation..

as everyone preaches, ball valves arent great and are quite slow, and theres a reason they do it... They arent great! How about a sprinkler valve or you could mod a blow gun and get creative
But otherwise just use a ball valve and have fun!!
Peace

if i want to put a sprinkler valve, itd make it to big to put under a gun.

Thats true, I guess you could move it about with the use of some flexible pipe, but as you say, its not ideal. Ive seen some modded blow guns here, maybe that could help?? Im making my own valve at the moment because I enjoy making things. I think its similar to a piston valve, but Im not sure about that!!

oh...Thats cool! i might jus use a ball valve but later, i might jus swith to a blowgun or something. Thanks

Any more suggestions?

You have said you want to use a C02 tank and regulator, but you can just use the CO2 tank as a chamber, which is less risky and saves the regulator cost. What you do is MAKE SURE IT IS EMPTY!, then unscrew the front and fit it to the pipe with fittings and a bike valve before your "air release valve" to pump air into the tank. It works just fine and is cheap and not too expensive and safe! Look on other sites for more info or just ask because I havent tried it yet!

Sorry for the double post, but just remembered now, what are you using for a loading mechanism, is it going to be a semi-auto gun?

if you plan on making this thing compact your going to need to use a coaxial setup, but that would mean it could not be loaded like a normal m203 (sliding barrel). if you plan on mounting this thing under the barrel of a gun you would probably want to go with something similar to this i made it a while ago, it uses a diaphragm valve and is very powerful for its size. relocate the trigger (which is connected to the pressure release to behind it and replace the schrader with your co2 line and a small ball valve.
