not necessarily, especially if you´re filling it from the pilot area.

you could making it out of hot glue........get some 1" pipe spray it with cooking oil spray........use you glue gun and squeeze glue into the pipe to the hight you want the piston to be.....wait till it cools.....pop it out..........drill a hole for a bolt....then bolt a 1" circle of neoprene on it..........a way to make nice circles of neoprene is to: make one end of the 1" pipe nice and shape like a potato slug cutter........push it into the neoprene hard and twist it a bit........i did this with a mouse pad and it made perfect circles :)

:D great idea..would'nt that need loads of glue? my glue gun fell 1m pus and the inside broke..i switched it on it didn't work.any other ideas for material?

you´d better fill from the pilot area, otherwise a spring would be a good idea.
any other ideas for material?
You could always cast it out of epoxy

if you do use a spring make sure its only just strong enough to hold the piston there otherwise it will rob alot of the power.

:: jack that link dont work

oh yes it does :P

and if you're using a spring make sure you're filling at a slower rate than the equalisation flow

Pilot is a ball valve..how do I fill from there?

Can't you add a separate schrader? you could also glue one to a fitting that screws into the ball valve temporarily for filling.

snt that the same as filling directly in front of the pilot?

wait a bit, there seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding.

ok, so you have:

main chamber - piston - pilot area

what i'm saying is the filling valve feeds the pilot area that then bleeds past the chamber to fill the main chamber.

It's if you're filling through the main chamber that you'll need a spring, otherwise you should be fine (providing that the flow betwen the pilot area and the main chamber is less than the flow from the filling valve)

You could put a quick connect onto the end of the ball valve, fill your gun via air compressor, when your done close ball valve, when you want to shoot open ball valve.

Oooorrrr....i could put a spring.what kind of spring?
