If it's copper it should be, but I'm not sure.
If its PVC be careful about what lubricant you use I think some petroleum products can weaken PVC.

I used glycerin on the 2in ball valve on my big combustion. The valve was because I didn't like taking the clean out cap off after every shot.

Glycerin can be purchased at a drug store. It can be used as a skin protectant, moisturizer in the winter, lubricant on equipment used for food. I used some as a lubricant on some tubing I was slipping on a barbed fitting. So, it has plenty of other uses.

I heard some lubes/grease can damage the rubber in ball valves, for my ball valve i used dish washing liquid. I just put some in, opened and closed a few times and repeated until it was easy to open.

a spray silicone lube is what you want, it is designed to lube and not to deteriate plastics and ruber its would be perfect for what you need

i think WD-40 will eat away the rubber in a ball valve

IDK if they sell it in the USA, but Durex sell sex lubes. They are all water bases lubes, so won't destroy rubbers or plastics. i will be getting some for my piston gun, as cooking oil gets sprayed out the barrel pretty fast.

So you tell the guy you're buying them from that you have a big gun to lube up at home?

No, I will buy it to have some fun with my girlfriend, but also use it to lube up my gun ;-)

Alright, thanks for the help. I'll try the dishwashing liquid and if that doesn't work out I'll look into buying some spray silicone lube.

doesn't anyone remember soaking your valve in warm water or is that only for metal, or is it soaking it in oil

 Why not tell the cashier that you'll be lubricating a large pneumatic gun to use on your girlfriend. When they ask why, you can say she has a strange fetish  Well at least thats what I'd do, it would give him a story to tell on his lunch break.

I once had a beautiful Russian er... affair, she told me that she had once found very alternative uses for her ex's guns. When she suggested I might like to see her do the same with mine, I refused outright on the grounds that bodily fluids are terribly corrosive.

Yeah, I still regret it :-/
