haha I made my 1st air cannon today. I love it, I can finally shoot without scaring the neighbours horses.

I took a leaf out off mitchaz89 Its kinda ghetto but I'm ghetto all the way so it fits.

My dad and I have been launching marbles all morning and then we moved on to water. Being from the local fire brigade we got to thinking about it for fire fighting purposes as at 60 psi and only 75ml of water we were making a vapour cloud about 3metres in diameter. Which we tested on a pile of burning card board and it completely extinguished the blaze instantly.

I shall name it "wet willy"

Anyway its just something to ponder, and I think I got my dad hooked lol he'll probably make a sweet ass cannon and put mine to shame.

let me know if you like it or not:)

thanks mate, I was going to put a sprinkler valve in with a mod but decided not to on such a small gun. Perhaps on my next one

Yeah, my first gun used a ball valve, and I thought it was pretty powerful, then when I built my second gun with a modded sprinkler, it was way better. If you build another one with a modded sprinkler valve, you will love how easy it is to operate, and how fast it opens. :D

nice for a first... soon you will be making them with piston valves ! oh FYI when you make a big one... dont put a large amount of water in it and fire it lol

hell load off kick back? Yeah we only put at the most like 100mls in anyway, the idea is to make a mist cloud for the surface area. But thanks I'll remember that incase I get the urge to soke someting big:)

I liked the idea of the coke bottle chamber for it availability but had a little trouble sealing it. That is until I figured to stick a copper olive in the fitting.

BTW does any one know a safe pressure that the bottle can to go to? Some ppl have said they run theirs at like 140psi? Is this safe, and will the bottle eventually rupture from constant inflation?

cheers

i like it its quite a nice first gun. how much did it cost to make all up ?. how effective is it and what pressures do you take it to ?.

Pop bottles usually explode around 140psi. If I were you I would only go up to about 100 if you plan on using it a lot.
Personally I've wrapped a 2liter in duct tape and taken it to 160, but after a while the bottom bulged outward and I stopped using it.

I put a bottle in side a coffee can, and it went to around 200-250 something, but it expanded so much inside the bottle it was stuck in.

The stress that caused on the bottle probably isn't very good for it though.

um all up it cost about $30 35 AUD to make.

its pretty effective out to about 50 meters and I only run it to 60psi at the moment:(

tomorrow I'll be going to supercheap auto and picking up a mini compressor. I saw one in an add with a blow gun handle with some other bits and pieces which will come in hany when i get round to a sprinkler valve

Thanks ill keep that in mind:)

as soon as I get my compressor I'll post some damage pics too

Nice, use black duck tape around the coke bottle make it look really cool.

Or use Krylon Fusion paint to paint it black.

Nice gun looks really over built with metal and brass parts.

It rocks man way better than my first gun.
