Quick question:

Does anyone use fresh engine oil when cutting on a lathe to help the bit cut?
I have cutting oil but its getting low and need to use something else in the mean time

Couldn't you just use a bit of chain instead of rope?
At least it would stall the drill first........at least my gutless piece of drill press it would.

I do agree tying your chuck to your drill press is not a good idea ...

After seeing this thread I just had to go and rip apart my little portable compressor!
Mine will pump up to 200psi before the schrader connecter blows of. It is rated to 300psi so I can't see why I don't just connect a decent bit of hose and a quick connect and see how I go.

Looks like a great plinker. What sort of accuracy?
You need to mount the scope better but looks like you have it all set up for good fun.
I like the baby bottle setup. allows for a few shots before refilling. I got sick and tired of constantly pumping up my pvc gun with a hand pump.

Nice idea. Maybe you could make the dart so it is forced over a couple of o rings at the back. That way you could get the pressure build up until it "forces" the dart of the o rings for more kick.

You are using the pin to force the projectile to start flying followed by the compressed air giving it force?
Sounds like it could work. Do you need to give it a kick? Just the compressed air would send it flying.
Also what is the hole in top of the chamber for?

With your sealing of the barrel and the rubber being dragged out I would recommend replacing the rubber with a tap washer rubber.

The rubber they use in a tap washer is a lot denser and shouldn't suck out the barrel.
I tried to use an old bike tire for a rubber washer but as soon as I hit 100psi ...
