Mauler Valve

The Mauler valve, is a consumer available barrel sealing valve for the use in pneumatic launchers. This valve has been designed by Sean Gort, and is offered for sale at Launch Potatoes.

A single, independent testing found that the Mauler valve yields superior muzzle velocity, to that of the Supah-Valve. (The Supah-Valve having a reputation of being built professionally, and also yielding results of such a degree.) The tests were conducted by John Shell, who also manages a purely informatory site, NeoSpud. A shooting chronograph was used to return muzzle velocity data.

The Mauler valve is unique in that it utilizes modified PVC pipe, and fittings. In contrast the Supah-Valve has machined PVC bar stock for the internal components. Both valves use a lathe to modify the components found in the valve. The Mauler using a wood lathe, and the Supah-Valve using a metal lathe. The difference between the wood, and metal lathe is how the tooling is controlled. On a metal lathe, the tooling is fixed in a mechanism, then moved along linear axises. With a wood lathe the tooling is held in the operators hands, steadied by a tool rest.

It is disputed that the name is not that of the creator, Sean Gort. As formally a hand held hybrid launcher was also named the Mauler. Spudinator, a long time member of the spudding community, created the Mauler.
