Re: Short question topic
It's not water, but if I pass a cotton ball through the inside of the barrel, it comes out quite wet. Putting some water in a sound suppressor to enhance the effect is a well-known trick for firearms, the fluid helps to cool the hot gasses and thus lowers the pressure. I would not be surprised if i...

Re: Is spudding dead?
Gamification of social interaction, it fucking sucks. To be honest a little way of showing appreciation for a post without necessarily replying isn't such a bad thing in my estimation, the issue comes when posts are ranked according to likes/dislikes and there is an algorithm that sorts them accord...

Re: Is spudding dead?
the web is certainly in a dark place right now with perhaps darker times ahead. It's true, and it doesn't seem like it's going to get any better, your points about gaming neurochemistry are very accurate and it does not seem reversible. I suppose it's typical to bemoan the younger generations, but ...

Re: Short question topic
Besides, my opinion is that the coefficient of friction should increase a lot, because the water deposited in the bore of the barrel That's a good point too, any water in the barrel ahead of the projectile is mass that has to be accelerated and would decrease performance. Perhaps a tank cannon styl...

Re: Is spudding dead?
perhaps going down the path of COOPERATION and not COMPETITION is more profitable. A simple project or a series of projects and not so much is the way to encourage participation. I mean, do it together. A chimera? perhaps, but surely it is trying to give it shape and viability. :) We did a bit of b...

Re: A brand-new ignition method
It will burn at much higher mixes but if you are fueling with the propane at atmospheric pressure, then 28x is the highest mix you can achieve.

Re: Benjamin Model 30/30 CO2 Carbine Repeater "Hot Shot"
Finally found some time to think about this and I'm happier with this design: https://i.imgur.com/lTrSFY0.jpg Started to work on it this morning and the lathe motor decided to misbehave... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQBKHBAlLGM Looks like a capacitor/centrifugal switch issue, to be investigated...

Re: A brand-new ignition method
If in a closed chamber I manage to introduce propane and compressed air within the range of stoichiometric proportions, at 100 bar, with a proper ignition, will it explode? :? With the right ignition it should, and we have proof :) I don't know if you're aware of this example that was shooting at u...

Re: About explosion pressure
I don't know if anyone has made a specific side by side comparison, but while the ratio of oxygen to propane is the same in both cases, there are important differences. Working with pure oxygen is a lot more dangerous so it is less practical, and there is a danger of DDT especially at higher mixes. ...

Re: Questions about mixing multiples
Firearms generate tens of thousands of psi of chamber pressure, so if you keep the same caliber and projectile weight, achieving similar power is impractical with a hybrid. https://i.imgur.com/32QQPsG.jpg Using a 50x mix and a 30 inch barrel with approximately 2:1 chamber:barrel volume ratio, I got ...

Re: Benjamin Model 30/30 CO2 Carbine Repeater "Hot Shot"
I hope it is something simple the problem of your machine. It looks like it :) It's a doubIe capacitor motor, I took it apart to look at the centrifugal switch and nothing seems to be broken or dirty: https://i.imgur.com/Kr3p9NZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nWkxZTf.jpg Of the two capacitors however, acc...

Re: A brand-new ignition method
Looking good! I assume that in the interest of safety you've made sure that all the pipes and fittings are rated for the expected pressures after ignition ;) I note that while the paper you shared concluded that "When the volume of the initiation end is larger than that of the booster end, you can g...
