Paper towels work fine. I used them as wadding for golf balls and for dry firing. All that would happen was they would get a little scorched it I ran it a little leaner than I should have.
I'm weird, I know it, you don't need to tell me.

Shopping bags tripled or quadruple folded hold about 20psi (i know they hold at least 15psi cuz i use them in my hybrid.

Wax paper is perfect for me because it didn't get charred or anything, and it's easy to make many of them quickly.
