Aussie Valves( which are best?)

Guys, Need some advice: Ive not made a cannon for some time but my intrest is back but I allways find it hard to get a good easy to mod 25mm valve!. Now this is directed at the few?? Aussie members on here= what valves have you found easy to mod? any advice much appreciated

25mm is 1" so I presume that he is talking about a sprinkler valve for a 1" pipe diameter. Could be wrong though, because his post is quite..erm.. cryptic...

PM rna_duelers. He has made some cannons with Aussie sprinkler valves. I don't know if they are easier to mod, but just PM him to find out.

Yeah, it could be a sprinkler. But even here in metric-land I have never heard talk about a 25 mm sprinkler valve or ball valve or a 25 mm threaded plumbing anything.

Well a 25 mm nut maybe; the hex nuts are metric but not the threads. Or a 25 mm valve for solvent weld installation; they sore do exist.

Anyway .. if it's a sprinkler valve, there is a link to a guide on the top of the pneumatic page. Oh wait, you are looking for a valve! I'd say any without a guide rod. Or build a homemade diaphragm valve into a tee, using sheet rubber. Apparently it is not so hard.

Really dongfang? All the sprinkler valves I find in NZ are 25mm solenoid valves, where do you live? Can't you find any threaded fitting that is 25mm?

I hear my ears a burning.Nearly any type of sprinkler valve can be modified.By far the best sprinkler valve I know of that is cheap and readily available is the 25mm-1inch Pope valve found in Bunnings.They cots around $20 or so and have great flow compared to other 25mm sprinkler valves available and get one without the flow control,although they still have a guide rod it is easy to work around it.

Guys sorry for the vagueness of my post, I was buggered from work and not thinking too well! yes I am refering to 25mm(1") sprinkler Valves .I am not new to making cannons/bb guns at all but lost intrest for a while, Its just most of the valves I have previously modded had odd shaped lids making them harder to mod or most I see have those bloody horrible FLOW CONTROLS on them!. Ive yet to find one here that has no Guide Rod inside!?, My Golfball cannon runs a modded 25mm valve.

My .177 pnuematic and my 9mm pnuematic both use a small 20mm sprinkler valve called(Hose Barbs) both unmodded and it seems cant be!?.
The .177 sporting a 4X32 scope will stay unmodded,I get 3 shots from it the way it is( each shot less powerfull) but is a great fun plinker.The 9mm version I want to find a 20mm valve that can be modded and fit that onboard but have been unable to find any 20mm sprinkler valves other than the ones I have that cant be modded!!??.

The 9mm version( COBRA XP) featured in the U.S Airgun Magazine AIRGUN HOBBY which I was pretty proud of , so did my DESTRUCTO Strafer Pistol!. Currently working on an inline Strafer but still rounding up parts I just got tired of having to pump the guns up every shot! and the stafers use a hell of a lot of air even with tiny bb resevour's

More aussies! As rna has already said, go to bunnings and get a pope valve. Modding it is as simple as drilling a hole in the cap, offsetted from the centre guide rod and screwing in a airtight brass barb into the hole.

Take rna up on his offer, you could learn alot.

Shucks guys.Learn a lot from me I'm starting to feel loved hahaha.The hole doesn't need to be put off to the side,I did that once witha valve not the best way to do it instead take out the guide rod completely and drill through the center and fill the guide rod hole up with epoxy or similar and heat up a pin/needle red hot in a candle flame/lighter etc and mkae a pin hole in the glue and there you have it.

Go to bunnings to get them, got my one, 25mm (roughly 1") for AU$16 from there. Also, if you live near Hornsby/Waitara/Wahroonga there is a very good small plumbing shop, they have lots of them as well. They have a guide rod and spring, but all you do is put the mod off-center and it is perfect.

You do not need to off set the nipple for the pilot valve I repeat you do NOT and those valves that are $16 do you mean the black ones mad ein italy?they have poor flow properties but can be modded just as easy I use them on my small bore shotguns which I sell they work great on small guns.

Yeah i mean the black ones made in Italy. I thought i had to off-set them because of the guide rod and spring being in the center. My one seems to work fine, but i don't really have anything to compare it to, it was used in a 15mm OD barrel and now its in a 8mm ID barrel.
