um i cant find a rating on the ball valve the pipe is rated to 480 psi and i did run it thru ggdt but i dont know what to set the ball valve delay for so could u give me and idea for that so i can see what it can do and what do u mean solvent weld i just used cleaner stuff and then pvc glue
Well.... If there is no rating printed on the valve, guess what that means?
There is no way that you can manually open a PVC ball valve in less than 50ms, and that is a generous estimate. If you are talking about dwell time, set it very high, as that means the amount of time the valve stays open after being opened.
If you mean that you used PVC primer, and then PVC solvent cement, then you did solvent weld it. Solvent welding plastic pipe is similar to the fusion welding of metals; the pipe and fittings are not simply stuck together, they actually become a single piece, except, instead of being bonded by melting with heat, the bonds in the plastic are broken down with a solvent, then reform, turning the pipe and fitting into a single piece. If you ever cut through a properly solvent welded fitting you will see this.
Would it really kill you to use grammar, punctuation, and proper spelling? I mean, seriously, your entire post is a single run on sentence. The first letter of the sentence is not capitalized, nor is there a period at the end. I also see no commas, semicolons, or colons separating the different topics in this single sentence. /rant>
Oh, and I wish the best of luck in advance to those will try to find some problem with the spelling or grammar of the above paragraph in order that they may call me a hypocrite - they're going to need it.

o and what does it mean that it has nothing printed on it u didn't say
Well if there really is no pressure rating printed anywhere on it, it would lead me to believe that it is not pressure rated. Taking a valve with no rating anywhere on it to 300 psi is just asking for some sort of grievous injury, and in truth, I wouldn't trust it at 100psi if there is no rating printed.
Why did you buy a valve with no rating in the first place if you intended it to be used on a pneumatic launcher?

i found out that the ball valve has a sch 80 specification and it goes up to 150 psi so is it bad that i took it to 200 psi

Take it to it's rating.
I think you should just get a new valve, but thats just my opinion.

Elipsis should only have three dots, you have four. Only kidding, had to say it thoughDYI wrote:Oh, and I wish the best of luck in advance to those will try to find some problem with the spelling or grammar of the above paragraph in order that they may call me a hypocrite - they're going to need it.
really good quote/phrase here
Damn you spud yeti!!
How long did it take you to find that?
Back on topic, don't use the valve over its rating. It may work better if you find a way to spring load it, but I wouldn't bother buying a new valve.

Muahaha, the ultimate grammar-meister
I think that if you build a piston valve or diaphragm valve, and just use the pipe, it would be the best option.

You may be the grammar-meister, but you misspelled the word "grammar". You also misspelled "diaphragm", and "meister".
I think that if he is going to build a decent valve, he may as well make a bigger chamber (ie. >2" diameter), so that he can get good performance.

LOL, that really sucks, I guess I must be tired after 2 and a half hours of non-stop trampolining
I always for get the "g" in diaphragm though, because both words exist
Oh well... (note the three dots)
I agree with you about the bigger chamber too.
btw, note the edits above

i might just make a bigger chamber for it ill probally still take it to 200 it holds good but once i get the new chamber ill keep it at 150 o i might even make a piston gun and use the ball valve as the trigger valve thing and it would work good but thats a later project

I like the idea of a piston gun with the ball valve as a trigger. You will be suprised by the improvement of a piston valve compared to the ball valve. How big would you make your chamber?
