I've been watching shark week on Discovery channel.
Just saw a woman use a pneumatic to launch chum. Not a good view but it had a ball valve so I assume it was air powered. Filled the barrel w./bloody chum, not much for distance but good spread. Very crude/simple weapon.
Yesterday they were launching shark repellent with a very nice air powered launcher. All aluminium, barrel, stock, valves and air canister.
Was filled w/scuba tank, using 150 -200 PSI, launching about 100YDS.
Looked to be commercially made w/nice triger and QEV setup. QEV different kinda boxy looking.
Good to see other uses for launchers besides shooting carp and ply wood!!

Yep ,Marine Search and Rescue...I think?
It could be used to launch a small line with a larger one tied to that
Well made, all it takes is money. Heard that around here before.

i saw dirty jobs and they had something like that to launch shark repelant. it looked like it had a large QEV or something of that nature because all he did was push a button.

The QEV setup was real nice, never saw anything like it. Made me want to go down to my shop and build!

I am designing a new repellent round for the company featured on that show. They had issues with the MarsSars launcher, but it is still a nice launcher in general. They want to use my Eclipse semi auto for the same purpose. When I sent the prototype to Bimini it was seized by the ministry of defense and the guys from Shark Defense had to show them the dirty jobs episode to get it released. The new round will use the repellent as a propellant to cover more area in the water column once it submerges. It was taped for a show called Ms. Adventure on Animal Planet, but I don't know if it ever aired.
When I get some more info I will post it. Should be a fun project. My anti-gun friends like the fact that I am making something that could help save a life one day. :-)
