I really messed up when I made my piston for my piston valve.

Today I put the Tee for a piston valve on a slab of wood, then melted hot glue into it. But now its dry and I can't even take the Tee off. I just threw it into the fridge to see if it will make it come off easier.

I already tryed to tap it off with a hammer, and hammer the wood, but its still not comming off. Does anyone reccomend anything?

O and im sure that when t does come off the wood, I won't be able to get it out of the Tee. Does anyone have any experience on how to get those out? Im thinking im going to have to crack the Tee apart to get it out, then buy a new tee

Thanks,

That was smart. You're pretty much screwed. Why didn't you some cooking spray or cooking paper?

Wait why did you melt it in the tee? You're supposed to sleeve the tee with (say your using a 2" tee) 2" pipe, and you make the piston in a off-cut of some 2" pipe not in the bloody tee. How did you expect the piston the move anyway? It would get stuck on the lip found inside most tee's.

I had that before. Make sure there is nothing block the piston coming out, like glue, stuff in the Tee, stuff like that. Use hot/warm water and push the piston out with something wide to spread the force of a larger area and hit it with a hammer.

EDIT: just read MrCrowlys post and then yours again. You are in a word... fucked if you didn't use any sort of oil. And yeah you should of made it in a pipe, not in the actual tee.

lol thanks guys but 30 minutes + a hairdryer got it off the wood slab, and the piston out of the tee :D

I knew it was not going to slide, so im going to sand it down, and lube it up, it will work fine.... I hope

O ya and im also cleaning out the stickynees out of the tee right now

i would use a razor blade. the duller the knife the harder it is to cut.

Use a heat gun, melt it so it forms a pool of glue in one spot, let it dry then scoop it up.

I would use nothing short of a Rambo Style knife, with a compass built into the handle.

Srsly.

If I were you, I'd just re-cast it. It'd probably provide a better fit than cutting it.

No, spray a lubricant of some sort in the mold, like putting butter on a pan so food doesn't stick. (You might want to try putting cooking oil in a spray bottle and squirting it in the mold) Then uncap the mold, and poke the piston out using gentle persuasion (one clean hit with a hammer and dowel is usually all it takes).

I understood it completely, but the reasoning behind it was rather...absent.
