easy way to cut pvc

if you tie a string between two things and slide the pipe back and forth it will cut the pvc a lot faster then you could with a hacksaw

or, you could go get a PVC cable saw for a dollar or two. which is the same thing, but with steel cable not string

i used nylon string once it worked, but using a hacksaw is a little more precise in my opinion.

Or you could just use a circular saw with an 80-tooth blade...

These are around $10-12 at the local hardware store (for one that cuts 2.5" pipe and smaller, the bigger one [which cuts upto 4"] is around $25):





You put the pipe in the jaws, clamp down the blade until it just makes contact with the pvc, rotate the pvc in the jaws a few times, crank down the blade a little bit tighter, repeat (the cut gets deeper each time), 10 passes or so produces a perfectly clean cut. They also cut soft copper just fine, but eventually you need to replace the blade (about $2...).

Am I the only one that has one of these? :-p

There's also a certain satisfaction from using power tools and knowing I saved myself half an hour of work. I get enough excercise from soccer anyway.

nope i am talking about regullar string it might be nylon i don't know i cut a 3/4 in tee in half in less then 10 seconds
