A Bioshock Challenge of sorts

Recently I have gotten addicted (for lack of better term) to playing the game Bioshock for the PC and XBox 360. Now while playing the game, I was able to see a number of beautiful things. And, with seeing all these wonderful sights, I went to my friend the internet for further information. And whilst browsing, I came across this picture.



And so, with a lack of raw supplies or a supplier, I figured it would be best to set up a challenge. So the challenge (or favor, which ever you prefer) is this. I would like to see if anybody could create a cannon in likeness to this. If you need help or inspiration (though I doubt you will), I would recommend looking at Jack's Combustion Cartridges. Well it would be cool, and i think someone should do it, but i can't I'm low on cash and I'm building small plinkers now.That's what turns me on.

It *can* be done, using my cartridge system simple leaving having the barrel the same diameter as the cartridges, the problem is you probably wouldn't get enough power for blowback so you'd need some kind of bolt handle, plus of course power would be pretty miserable, unless you made your cartridges ridiculously long.

I would try to re-create this, as I've always been a fan of the post-apocalyptic look, but if I decided to construct something like this I would stay true to the in-game functionality of the weapon.
Meaning, I would design it to shoot actual live rounds/with solid propellant, so I would not be able to share it on this forum

Also, I would opt for construction materials that are a little safer than what the image depicts. Soup cans and belts aren't a good idea when messing with solid propellants.

If someone wants to turn this into a combustion launcher, you may have better luck using a pure oxygen/mapp cartridge system.

Not to be contrary.But if a grenade launcher incorporates a "high low" pressure system it would be fine to use soup cans and belts(if you could actually fabricate the things properly).The M79 's muzzle velocity was only around 250 fps.And they purposely designed the barrel and cartridge to be thin in a effort to cut down on weight.

...but it still generates a healthy 2600 psi in the barrel so nothing to joke about either.

Interestingly, it was the Germans that came up with the idea in World War 2. They wanted a gun that could offer the same light weight and performance as a recoilless gun but without the associated back blast and waste of propellant.
