Thoughts on my first cannon?

Well, I'm on the finishing stages of my cannon... Just need to prime + cement the last pieces , and wire up my solenoid. I do NOT intend on modifying my sprinkler valve, unless it doesnt work... I'm posting here before I put on the finishing touches, because after you cement and it doesnt work...You're stuck with a useless pile of PVC pipe.... so PLEASE any suggestions or changes you would make, please post. I will be wiring the solenoid up to 3 9v batteries. It will have a safety(a flipswitch) and a trigger(momentary switch).



Above is my ghetto replacement for a woodblock + sprinkler binder thing...

it should work, but is your stock bloked off from the chamber> if not thats restricting flow, heaps.

The sprinkler valve restricts the flow far more than the stock does, so there shouldn't be any real problem, on way or the other.

Looks pretty good, I would change the stock though in my personal opinion, looks a little funky. Maybe shorten the angled bits so the caps are flushed with the 45 elbows, or just ditch the elbows and have the stock just be staight. Other then that, looks cool.

Same here. You would need VERY long arms to aim properly with that thing the way it is set up at the moment.

Also, with such a large chamber and so much barrel constriction, a I'd recommend a good-sized barrel, at least 6' long.

I already said, the coupler. Either it's DWV or you cemented the bushing in less than halfway.

And the coupler they be-a-talking about is the piece of pipe connecting your pressure chamber to the 2" to 1" bushing which connects to the 1" pipe that meanders around to your valve.

dude later when its working and everthing, replace the zip ties with 2 or 3 metal clamps there SUPER strong and look cool. And ya it should owrk fine it will have to cycle out somewere.

About the coupler... I will have to look at it to see if it is DMV, but it is cemented all the way in....I'm at school atm, so when I get home, I will look. So I should remove the stock, wireties, and get a new fitting?

The stock doesn't have to be removed, but you should make it smaller. A good length of pull, or length from the butt to the trigger, is 13 inches. Try to shoot for that length or somewhere near it.

Looking over your stock again, if you've never used a sprinkler valve, eventually you probably will mod it (as guys have a tendancy to generate as much power as possible). If that it is the case, your stock may have trouble around the elbows (i.e. it may break). This can easily be fixed by removing the elbows and placing the stock inline with the barrel.

As far as the gun being front heavy (if it is) you could always fill the stock with cement or something. This will even the weight out and block of air to the stock which may restrict the flow.

Okay, enough about the stock: That coupler is DWV. Just trim it off and replace it with another (pressure rated) one. As far as the wireties go, they are fine, as long as you clip them. Trim the cloth, paint the beast, and go break sh!t.
