Cotton wool + hot gasses -> bad idea.ok so holes....and steel wool, bit of cotton wool? sound good?
lookin' good!
No no no no no no noOk just so I can prove gepard wrong here.....SILENCERS DON'T NEED HOLES ON THE freakin' OUTSIDE DO THEY?
Not necessarily, some silencers actually increase muzzle velocity - however in this case, where you still have barrel drag but are getting rid of the gasses, I expect a slight drop in performance.Be prepared for a significant decrease in performance if you bolt on a 20" long piece of pipe that is designed to cool (and provide an additional escape route for) the gases propelling the projectile.
This is great for spherical projectiles or a rifled barrel, however spudgun projectiles are often irregular and start to tumble the second they leave the muzzle, so unless you stick to marbles only a perforated barrel is your friend.this allows the projectile to fly through unhindered, while the air behind it gets caught in the baffles, greatly reducing the noise
