well I got a free broken crt (its the vacum tube non-lcd) computer monitor from school and I can get plenty more working ones too, cause our school doesn't use them, any ways I choose the smaller broken one for shooting at, and I learned the front screen is some tough stuff

this crappy video here explains it

nope there are no prizes I'm just asuming that for most of us males (nearly all of us) our competitive nature will encourage use to give it a shot and if you sucssed feel a sense of satifaction knowing that you p0wned that computer monitor

anyone crt monitors? TVs

I can imagine the feeling you had when the screen didn't shatter as you expected it to. I bet you could punch through it with that gun with a higher density projectile. I shot a battery like this at a cinder block once and it mangled the battery but did jack to the brick.

Judging by the damage to the battery... you have yourself a hard shooting cannon. Batteries are basically packed powder in aluminum foil, if you used a bolt or similar object you can destroy that crt screen.

I would take your challenge but unfortunately I don't have any old crt's.

BTW Nice cannon bro!

I'll try to find one and shoot it tomorrow. I still have a 2" lead cannon ball and a gun powerfull enough to shoot it. Should be interesting:)

My friend and i shot one witha a .22, then I shot it at point black with a 12 gauge, and we topped it off with a nice 25 gram flash powder charge. It was amazing though how sturdy the thing was, the .22 just cracked the screen, the 12 gauage majorly shattered the front, and the flash powder turned it to lead dust.
Anyways got a little carried away there. I'l try it with my 4" combustion with an old propane tank. Just need to pick up the monitor from a friend.

I find old CRTs all the time, but I never shoot them since I don't feel like cleaning up the mess afterwards. I'm pretty sure my pneumatic would penetrate them though. I was able to split a pine board clean in half with an inductor coil, and buried a bolt in a cement wall with it....

yeah I saw that, I thought those gatling guns were no more than a bbmg in a mechaical form, surprisingly there much more powerful than I thought to perece that TV, (hehe I left my monitor pluged in in hopes for some fire like that)

I don't think those gatlings are any more powerful than a BBMG - again with these kind of launchers it's the rate of fire that counts, even if the individual BB energy is low. I'll have a look round for a CRT and see what my ball valve strafer can do to it :)

Here's a video for ya.

Gave up on the cannon ball after the wadding kept getting blown past it in the barrel. Shot a TV with an oil filter instead:

The filter is in there... somewhere.

I'll see If I can salvage the flyback tommorow.
