Pressure Rated PVC Hose?

I'm trying to find some pressure rated flexible hose to use for my next project...I can only find rated up to around 100 psi or so...and I want to get it up 150 - 200 PSI...

Anyway, does anyone know if what I'm looking for exists? or if so, where could I get some? I havent got an OSH around my house either, so if you know where to get it online, that would also be appreciated.

What is that? Is it pressure rated?

What size tubing? If you want smaller sizes (3/8, 1/4) you could use compressor hose, I think it's rated to 300 psi.

Obviously, its simply compressor hose, like he said.

Even the braided clear hose you can buy in the same place as air compressor hose is rated to 200 psi.

If you have a Lowes or similar store nearby go to the fittings aisle and you will find various types of hose there. Fuel line and air compressor line are both rated around 250 psi. There should be several types of clear braided hose inthe same vicinity up to around inch and a half.

Hi,

Reinforced PVC would work as well, but of the transparent "aquarium" hose, only the very smallest diameters are good enough.

At my local auto parts store I can buy 1/4" PVC hose rated for 5800 psi, and I can get air hose rated for 300 psi at my hardware store. It definitely exists.

Thanks you guys!

Also, if I were to want to put a male fitting on one of these hoses, how would I go about doing it?

For normal hose, use a hose barb with threads on one end. For hydraulic hose (the 5800 psi stuff), the store will crimp fittings onto the end for you.

I have a new 10 meter air hose for a compressor which I cut up into sections for other projects. It is rated to 220bar. Its pretty much an average blue air hose but it seams a little bit stiffer.

Why would a compressor air hose need to be rated for ~3200 psi? Seems like overkill to me, unless it's a scuba compressor.

It's not air compressor hose, that stiffer high rated stuff is hydraulic hose. It can be used with air but is designed to be chemical resistant and sunlight resistant for use on hydraulic systems like on big trucks, and machinery, and they won't crack and fail under temperature extremes like leaving them out in the cold and whatnot. Other than makeup, there is basically no difference. They are available in every size except maybe 1/4 inch. I am not sure I have ever seen hydraulic hose that small but for sure in 3/8 and 1/2 and you can also get it in 3/4 but you probably have to go to an autoparts store or farm & fleet store. They can be used the same, hose barbs, etc for connections. They just feel a bit different.

You can buy air line that is rated that high for scuba diving, but it so expensive why would you want to? Speciallized stuff = expensive. My high pressure line for my SCUBA regs comes in 48 inch max lengths. That four foot costs $25 with fittings. Not worth it for an air cannon.
