does anyone know if you can use a coil, battery, and maybe a capacitor to make a spark? I think I have heard of using coils to make a spark before but nobody went into any detail on how to connect anything. if anyone knows how to connect the battery to the coil to make it spark please let me know. thanks.

WARNING--------WARNING----------WARNING

(((ALL COMPONETS ON THIS ASSEMBLY MUST MATCH !!!)))

12 volt neg. ground battery to 12 volt neg. ground coil. --- OR

12 pos. ground battery to 12 volt pos. ground coil.

Same goes for 6 volt systems, try to use a 12 volt system, (way more relieable).

Use a good charged 12 volt battery negitive ground, the coil has a neg. + pos. post with nuts on them,(2 different sized post on most), hook neg. on battery to neg. on coil. Hook neg. from coil to ground on spark plug (the metal below hex for socket wrench). Hook pos. from battery to one side of gate switch (after market toggle switch will do, or simular), hook pos. from coil to other side of gate switch, (make sure switch is off/open). Use a normal points style spark plug wire to connect coil to the spark plug. Now with battery fully charged, all connections made, turn switch on, (only has to be on for a split second), the coil will charge. Turn the switch off and the spark shoud discharge at the spark plug electrodes.

DO A TEST RUN BEFORE CONSTURCTING THIS SETUP ON YOUR CANNON ! !

I think i got it rite.

You could try my relay trick. Just replace T1 with the coil

A better way would be to build a 555 timer based pulsing circuit or a CDI circuit.

Assuming you gun is plastic, you will need to ground the screw base on your sparkplug or your opposite electrode to the - on the battery.
