Piston Valve Question

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

You really want as little travel as you can(past 1/4th the barrel diam), as letting the piston accelerate more will put more stress on the fittings it hits when it goes back.

Not only that but the more travel it has, the larger the pilot volume, meaning the pressure will drop at a lower rate therefore the piston will open slower, and that means less performance.

No idea, somewhere though back in the day when I started out. Hence the 'I think' and 'i'm not 100% sure' in my post.
