if ammo falls out of cannon and doesn't fire what should i do?

What sort of a cannon is it? I'm guessing it's a combustion, in which case just vent the chamber and try again ;)

Nay, trying to put a projectile in a loaded cannon is a silly idea. Open up the back so all the hairspray leaves the chamber then reload and try again. If its a pneumatic the just let the air out and refill.
