i may be new to spudding, but i know alot about U.S. law for a 15 year old, while it is illegal, sending cops looking for people bustin holes in coins costs more than the amount of money lost due to kids shooting homemade guns at em. i agree with ragnarok, unless it's worth sending cops to stop it, they won't do anything

Like Benstern said, it is not illegal!

"Whoever fraudulently alters, defaces, ..."

Punching a hole in a coin, as long as it isn't done to defraud, is legal.
Cutting up a coin, as long as it isn't done to defraud, is legal.
Slicing up paper money, as long as it isn't done to defraud, is legal.

Get the trend here? As long as you are not trying to defraud someone you can do whatever you want to money.

Those penny smashing machines you see at museums, zoos etc. are perfectly legal.

yeah, and pennies are a nice size for targets. That's why I shoot them with my BB and pellet guns. But, when you hit them, they can be a bit hard to find.
I'm weird, I know it, you don't need to tell me.
