quick question on pvc

I have cruised this site for awhile, looking at the many different launchers and being awed by the level of creativity people put in them. My question deals with PVC. Form the many comments on it, am I to understand that DWV PVC pipe is unsuitable for pneumatic launcher building or just chamber construction. and has anyone else had a hard time to find 2inch to 1 inch reducer coupling at home depot? thanks
umm my understanding is that dwv is a shallower socket and you dont get as much surface area "glued" together and is unsuitable for construction period unless you are a fan of joints blowing apart

dont get dwv joints and glue regular pipe into them many people have had the normal pvc pipe not go in all the way making it unsafe for any cannon.
so just spend the extra time and find the right joints you can order them from mc master if you need to

DWV ABS makes a nice barrel material, and I've never had one fail, even at 400+ psi. As for DWV PVC, it is fine for barrels but not as good.
DWV copper makes good cheap chambers, but don't use non-pressure rated parts for chambers on pneumatics.

Most reducer coupling are going to be DWV. What you want to look for is a bushing. Inside of a 2" coupling, this will produce the desired effect and still be pressure rated.
I've never had any trouble locating the bushing and coupling combo but I've never seen a 2" x 1" reducer coupling. Also, please note that a 2" coupling is either DWV or pressure rated. Make sure to check the writing. A good way to check if you are unsure, the pressure rated coupling tends to be a little longer than a DWV one.
