Many hundreds of piston cannons have used such a design, and those all worked, so Murphy's law proves that at least one will have to fail to work, and that will obviously be yours because you asked the question without using the search function.

And using red as a bumper? Have you no sense? Red is one of the most solid colours, the piston will smash to pieces when it comes back!
You need to use green or turquoise, or if you can't find either, taupe and beige are also usable. Yellow can be used short term if you have nothing else to hand.
There is also a clear gap between your sealing face and seat, and all the air will leak out there, you may have left PVC dust on your rubber piston surface after cutting, which will be why it's not seating right.

That's a good, common design. However, I would suggest making your barrel just a little smaller or the tee a little bigger. This will help air push back on the piston better when it needs to.

The orange is a wood,grey is a duct tape and black is a bumber and seal.
Is it a sustainable enough for piston?

I'd say it would work, as long as your bumper is effective enough to keep the wood from distorting with the repeated impacts it will suffer.

what kind of wood are we talking and are we talking about a solid chunk, also why duct tape around the side, why not dremel an o-ring groove around near the ends of the piston??
