coming up to summer. so i thought why not make a kick A*#e water pistol.
i'm just wondering what would be the best way to make it. i have thought about using a gravity feed water supply or spring to push the water in front of the air. Or to give a piston design a go. the advantage with the piston design is i could have have multiple pre-charged cannisters. which would be attached using a half inch air fitting.
which would be easier or which would have better performance.
ps. there would be a little water bomb launcher for added punch
water pistol

"barrel - water chamber - blowgun - air supply"pistol
It wouldent really look like a pistol with the large air tank in your backpack.
Are you going to use it for water fights in teh summer?
Copper burst disk cannon
4000psi shot
The burst disk "rifle" (not rick roll)
Currently away playing ps3

In water blasting circle's "pistol" is sufficient terminolgy, when generalizing, especially when a hose and backpack are used......... Good pick up though.... LoL..
Are you going to bring up the A*#e in the post... Or do you justpick on me?? Probably off messaging them no eh?? ROFL

I would try looking here for homemade water gun ideas. I have an idea myself, but am not going to use a pump but instead pressurize it.
You can also try looking at xinventions water cannon design 2 for a compact water launcher.

I'm more in favour of: barrel - blowgun - pressurised water chamberjackssmirkingrevenge wrote:barrel - water chamber - blowgun - air supply

enjoy
yes its not homemade, but it gives you an idea of how they work, i just like to look at how the basic ones work first and then improve on that design for whatever i am building

What about this:
In the chamber is a piston, this is the chamber:
===== barrel
+----+
+----+ chamber
~~~~ water
WW piston
----- air inlet
C = compressor OR pressurized chamber
The piston will move forward, pushing out the water.
In the chamber is a piston, this is the chamber:
Code: Select all
+----------------------------------------------+
=========|~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~WW |-----C
+----------------------------------------------+
C = compressor OR pressurized chamber
The piston will move forward, pushing out the water.
to utilize that, i think you'd need a fairly high pressure source, depending on the piston size and whatnot, IMHO, i believe you'd be better with a quick single shot... like they were discussing above. I think if you went for a stream effect as you describe, it wouldn't go very fast, just because of the property's of water.
but hey what do i know, you might be able to get enough force on the piston, test it out
Is waterworm the correct terminology..?
General they have a slowish velocity, but are hella compact with very little air infused....
Good for saturation shots....
I believe if you fill the barrel.... then fire at a lower pressure you'll get a worm... At high pressure mine just disperse into a spray from the air velocity.
If I fill my entire gun... Barrel, chamber etc It will produce multiple shots but i'd add a squirt nozzle for max distance...
Working on a similar idea at the moment...
I think the best thing to do at this point (since we have numerous ideas) is to see what exactly carter is going to be using this for. Does it need to be an actual pistol size of any size? Will it be portable or stationary? At this point, most of the ideas are for a stationary gun that would require an air compressor.
good ideas. i want it portable but powerful. i was thinking bout using rechargable cannisters. and i want a bit of fun down the beach impress the girls sorta thing. pyscix has the same idea but with a bike valve at the back to let air in. im not to keen for the back pack idea
At my lemonade stand I used to give the first glass away free and charge five dollars for the second glass. The refill contained the antidote
