Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

I have a small question about the sprinkler valve size im choosing for my pneumatic. The barrel is 3/4 inch soo im thinkin about gettin a 3/4 inch male sprinkler valve for easy cpnnection, the more compact size and better price. Would it be better to use a 1 inch sprinkler valve or it doesnt really matter ?

you will get a lot more power out of a 1" valve than a 3/4" one. A one inch one isn't much more expensive and the gains are worth it. It isn't very difficult to get a 1" down to 3/4" for your barrel

I would think because of the barrel size a 3/4" will do nicely, a 1" will just be chocked down to 3/4" givivg up any gains.

I think Jrrdw is right, as the air flow will be limited. If he is wrong, it's everyone elses fault  (nice sig!)

Yea but what about future guns? So what it wont be matched perfectly to that barrel, maybe later on he will want to use a 1 inch barrel and then he would have a nice valve for it.

You're assuming that a 3/4" valve has the same flow as 3/4" pipe, which isn't necessarily the case. I would go with the 1" valve.

Good point dewey - easy way to check this, hook up the valves in question to large tanks of water and see how long they take to empty.

hey i resemble that remark

i have used both the 3/4 and 1", the 1" seemed to open quicker. not sure if the flow was any better or not though.

Assuming you haven't purchased the valve yet, and assuming the chamber is bigger than the 3/4" barrel, go ahead and get a 1". I'm not sure if there is a noticeable difference in the flow or not (I've only used 1" valves) but why take the chance. It's not going to be that difficult adapting the barrel to the valve.

If, however, your chamber is 3/4" as well, I would suggest the 3/4" valve simply for ease.

Ha Ha Ha good one JSR, the strange thing is the authorities outlaw drugs and such because they kill people, yet there are no laws in regards to getting as fat as mud. You can even feed your kids absolute crap and no one even looks sideways at you.

It just doesn't make sense!
