i got a new eskie which holds 2 jim beam slabs plus a 3kg bag of ice , a new 8 man tent, my best mate is given me all my booze for new years, from the murks of the sultry abyss by brandon boyd from my girlfreind, dvds cds about $400 worth of gift vouchers to different shops, a wallet and money.

An Xbox 360 with a couple of wireless controllers, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player and 5 HD DVDs with a brand new 27inch HD ready Tv, Halo 3, Timeshift, Forza 2 and Superman aswell as Supreme Commander:Forged Alliance for PC.
And as far as spudding goes, I got all the parts for my new copper sniper rifle with a 22mm barrel sealing piston valve.
Various clothes, books, chocolate and money also.

I got a Moog Etherwave Theremin Kit, two $25 Lowes giftcards(1 from parents another from friend), about $100 cash (relatives),one of those old fashioned "sqeeze type" spudguns, and a bunch of other small items plus an electric razor. Last but not least is tons of candy...

In NZ it's not really that common for friends of my age to give each other xmas presents unless you're a girl. Girls spend like hundreds on friends gifts.

Us guys are like why bother, lets not waste our money on each other, may as well just hand each other $20, there's no point.

How is the LMF? I've been meaning to buy one for the longest time...

I have to say you won't be disappointed.The blade is good and heavy,you'll be suprised out just how hefty it is,no bending the blade here.The ASEK's sheath is a little funky because it doesn't have a belt loop,just straps.I was able to modify mine to fit on a 1" belt.Other than that everything else has worked out just fine.I'd definitely give it a 9 out of 10.

I don't know why I put up with you. There are few things you say that don't make me groan. It's almost instinctive now - I'll start to groan, then realise there's no silly joke and have to stop.

Me, I got around £120 in cheques and cash (~$250 USD, which won't go as far in the UK. Need to decide what to spend it on), a small number of DVDs (Hot Fuzz, Miami Vice, Bourne Ultimatum, 300 - prompt excessive quoting), a new book on fantasy drawing (NO! Not that type of fantasy!!! *glares at JSR*), a weird book on the science of the Simpsons, some chocolate, and a few other things. Christmas isn't a huge deal at my house.

The real present this year has been the laptop I got off the government because of my registered disability, Asperger's syndrome.
...a variant of autism where language and cognitive skill/development is largely unaffected. To expand a bit, Autism is rather heavily blown out of proportion by the media, at least in the UK, and I imagine in a lot of other countries as well. It doesn't affect me greatly, nor does it many other people with it - the media show you the worst. I don't particularly like it being called a disability, and in my own words: "Asperger's is simply a different viewpoint on the world, which sometimes makes it difficult, but far from impossible."
As for the 'link' between the MMR and Autism - I assure you that it's total bollocks. It's genetic beyond any doubt - my father has it to an extent, his father had it to a greater extent, and they were both born before the vaccine was introduced.

Nearly two grand - 2x 2gHz (Dual core), 2gB DDR2 RAM, nVidia GeForce 8600, 100gB HDD, DVD+RW, 19" widescreen display - quite a nice machine. Even better when the government gives it to you for no expense on your own part... As for all those tax paying types... *evil laugh*

On rather less good news, our remaining guinea pig, Arrow (one of what was once a pair with another female, Jet), passed away on the night between the 25th and 26th, at an age about 5 years and 7 months.
It's a bit of a damper to the spirit of celebration, but the family is coping all right - we've known it was approaching since the other one died 11 months back, and we're actually pretty surprised that she's survived this long, many animals pine away quickly if they lose their company.
We think she may have caught a cold off one of the family, we've all had them recently, and their immune systems aren't up to handling that particularly well, even when they're young and healthy.
Unfortunate, but you know from the day you buy any pet that it will almost certainly die before you do.

Anyway, I'll be at a friend's party in a few days, who has a birthday on the 31st, so it becomes combined with New Year's, and thus, everyone gets twice as drunk - including me, but I don't drink in the first place... 2 times nothing is still nothing... .

Ouch, I feel your pain. Tis not everyday someone has to go through something like that, luckily for me i've only ever been to one screening of Miami Vice, but a few unforunate people have been through it more then once and are never the same again.

Actually that's what me and my friends do for birthdays.

And we'd have xmas outside, so we can show off by getting the biggest xmas tree, and there would always be a 21 spudgun salute at 12am

Rag: i'm jealous of your laptop, i just got mine on my birthday (3rd dec) and its not as nice as yours although its alright (2gb ram, duel cores which run at a grand total of 1.87Ghz 8) i think i have a 120gb hdd and and ATI graphics card. and one would have thought that the government would maybe spend less money on laptops and more on healthcare or policing, not that i'm saying you shouldn't have an expensive one.

Ouch, I feel your pain.

No matter, I distract myself from such films by analysing all the clichés they use. Particularly firearm balls-ups.

A pet hate of mine is the concept that removing the magazine from a firearm automatically disables it... obviously nobody understands that there can still be a round in the chamber.
I just largely ignore the bottomless magazines and disproportional recoils now, but there are things that still annoy me, like the fact that jammed guns are always irredeemably broken, and any gun of any quality will go off if dropped. Not to mention that guns will make ridiculous noises when simply moved around a little.

Not to mention that no matter what type of gun you have, it's impossible to hit Arnold Schwarzenegger (thank you, FF spellcheck) with it (when he isn't a robot, at least).

Any explosive device is ALWAYS an incendiary device. No exceptions.

Guns have no recoil on the user's side, but tend to throw the target across the room.

If you are ever shooting from a rooftop and get hit by an enemy bullet, the standard reaction is to throw yourself off the roof, even if you are still alive and conscious. You must also use the Wilhelm scream.

You cannot kill large reptiles with bullets. They must be hit by a missile/ set on fire/ fed an explosive device/ thrown into a pit/ hit by a train.

Splitting up is always a good idea.
