blow gun question

yesterday i purchased an orbit sprinkler valve as well as a blow gun.
i know i need to drill a 1/2 inch whole in the middle of the valve, but my question is if i want to mount the blow gun directly to the valve for better performance, all i have to do is just use an adapter correct? with some teflon tape? and then it will work?

Yes thats how it works but for 1/4" threads I believe it's a 7/16" hole but whatever.

1/2 inch? i think you mean 1/4 inch and yeah try to get it in the middle. if you want an inline the your put the blow gun in directly into the valve but if you want a little longer then just use two barbed fittings and tap it in the valve, yes always use teflon on threaded fittings for good seals

alright thanks guys, but im pretty sure my blow gun is a 1/2 inch, the adapter that came with it is 1/2 inch and fits into it... so i was planning on screwing one side of the adapter into the blow gun, and the otherside into the valve

There are no 1/2" blowguns that I know of..........
JDAX, I think you actually went and measured your fitting's diameter. This size of fitting is called 1/4" NPT(National Pipe Thread), and is, in actuality, 1/2" wide. However, in order to tap the hole properly to minimize leaks, a 7/16" bit should be used.

Hmm weird, most are 1/4". Never seen a 1/2" on a blow gun before.

Check it with the ones in the tutorials on the site.

Just drill a hole to your fitting size I guess.

Elitesniper (and others) are correct, the size hole you need to drill has very little to do with the nominal dimension of the fitting.

Just a suggestion, but before you go drilling a hole in the essentially irreplacable valve body you should do a test installation on something like a piece of scrap PVC.
