Yeah. But the fact is there is no random circumstance or coincidence. Theres, like Newton said "For every action. Theres an equal and opposite reaction". Therefore while the theory of Chaos is correct we look for the reasons as to why it happened and what else happened. This is why most ask why and others ask how.

Also many practise different religions and believe many things, we all grow up like how we are raised but we make our own choices.
It's a common conception that soldiers who fear death seem to die more in combat, is there any proof to this?

I've always found it interesting, and it seems likely.
I believe this. For we seem to be ready to die for what we believe and then we dont. Its a reward in itself.

Chaos and Order are not enemies. Just opposites. I love that saying

Later in his life when he was asked whether he was a Hindu, he replied:

"Yes I am. I am also a Christian, a Muslim, a Buddhist and a Jew."

@BTB: the problem with the whole "convenience" issue is that we are looking at the universe from such a biased point of view. We barely understand our own star system (of which we only occupy one planet), much less the greater overall trends in the universe. The sheer magnitude of the "big picture" is more than any of us can comprehendExcept maybe Rag, who claims he can imagine 5 dimensional objects and colours that our eyes can't perceive. What is conspicuous convenience for us is but a random coincidence on the larger scale.

@Twitch: My belief that the human race is nothing more than a coincidence precludes the fact that I believe that the "meaning" of life is to perpetuate itself. Any definitions of good and evil, right and wrong, etc..., are only constructs of humans (and possibly other sentient beings, as they probably do exist somewhere), and thus there can be no meaning to our lives other than what we create for ourselves.

Apart from that, I support the advancement of humanity, rather more strongly than many do these days (read: Greenpeace, anarchists, religious fundamentalists, and most high school students in the Western world). Although my thinking leads me to believe that there is no point in living, there is equally as little point in ceasing to exist, and significantly less fun involved. So I enjoy life as much as I can, and when I can't, take comfort in the fact that we'll likely all be dead in a century anyway, having had no real impact on the whole of existence, and that one f*ck up or missed oportunity won't impact this fact in the slightest.

Amen to that.

Out of the hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe, one is bound to of got everything right for life to exist.

It's not like we're one out of 10 galaxies and we just happen to have everything we need, there are hundreds of billions of galaxies, one planet in one of these galaxies may have too much oxygen, or is closer to a star (sun) so there is no life, our galaxy and planet just got it right.

Without getting into religion, more to BtB's theory of there being 'a greater being, or maybe a god'...

I do wonder how the universe started, what made it start etc, but to think that there was a superhuman force or a god (not to be confused with a religious god) who made everything or runs everything, then there must of been something that made 'it', and something outside else of the this universe.

This is true. Like the fact that many say The Big Bang was just a chemical reaction and a collection of gases. I just have that much to think about now. Im not gonna collaborate right now. Girl probs. I leave you guys to continue this discussion of entities that create. How and why were here and such.

Before the big bang there was NOTHING!!! No "collection of gases"
Not even space for matter to exist in existed. time dident exist either.

They say a infinitly heated infinitly dense less than a quark sized bubble of pure energy "leaked" through a "brane" (a streched string dividing universes/dimentions) And expanded faster than light (teh big bang)

Im 12 and I know this stuff, try M theory on wiki.
Discovery channel FTW!!!
Azian FTW!!!

Edit: Read a new thing on wiki

"Some proponents of the theory now believe that a collision of two branes may have been responsible for the Big Bang"

When stars (sun) collapse, they collapse to 6x the size of Manhatten and 1 cubic centremeter of this mass, weighs more then the entire Human Race.

Imagine a world not with 4 dimentions like ours (Up, down, side to side and time) But with 11 or possibly nearly/totally infinite dimentions.

Trying to explain the big bang is futile, because there was nothing "before" it. Time and space, as universal as they may seem, are only artifacts of this universe. Trying to explain what "caused" something when causality did not exist is rather a waste of time in my opinion.

You miss my point. In my opinion, nothing had to "cause" the big bang, because causality probably only exists in this universe. The time that people spend trying to understand what "caused" the big bang could be spent much better on more useful projects (or at least problems that actually have a solution).

Funny you should mention that.
Agent Smith: "Why, Mr. Anderson, why? Why, why do you do it? Why, why get up? Why keep fighting? Do you believe you're fighting for something, for more than your survival? Can you tell me what it is, do you even know? Is it freedom or truth, perhaps peace - could it be for love? Illusions, Mr. Anderson, vagaries of perception. Temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose. And all of them as artificial as the Matrix itself. Although, only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love. You must be able to see it, Mr. Anderson, you must know it by now! You can't win, it's pointless to keep fighting! Why, Mr. Anderson, why, why do you persist?"

Neo:"Because I choose to."
When I first saw the movie (which was by far one of the most awful I ever had the misfortune to sit through, to this day I occasionally look to my friends, heads are shaken and the words "dude, Matrix Revolutions SUCKED!" are collectively uttered) and heard Neo's response, I was completely flabbergasted. The shining saviour of humanity and this was the best answer you could come up with? The truth is, however, this is the only answer. There is no fundamental purpose to life, we live it because we chose to. Very thought provoking for such a rubbish piece of cinema.
Ragnarok wrote:my grandmother said a great thing about that, probably one of the better arguments: "If there is a god, and he won't accept me into the afterlife because I wasn't prepared to believe in him on solely blind faith, then it's not a god I would want to worship."
This was one of the salient points I was attempting to make in the spudtech thread:
I feel comfortable believing there is no afterlife, it makes perfect sense to me. Do you feel happy with the belief that you were made to suit the whims of an infinitely perfect being? What would such a god want with creating the human race? Who are we to feel that if this was the case, god actually cares for each and every individual? The compassionate god willing to banish you to an eternity of suffering if you don't bend to his ways? (aturner, I'm not generalising - I mean, "there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth", the bible is pretty definite about the fires of hell) - Do you realise how h u g e the universe is, and how utterly insignificant the earth is? What is our planet, god's version of The Sims that he amuses himself with after a hard day's work?
