Weld some 1" plates on both ends of it, attach a 4" union to one, rig up a few spark gaps, and make the monster hybrid from hell.

I vote for a hybrid or a super high pressure pneumatic.

Why did your dad just randomly buy you a huge piece of pipe?

undortunatly, i don't have a welding machine.... and I don't iknow how much it would cost to get all steel stuff.... IE barrel..... but I was thinkin to put it under my house and then when i have a car and mo' money, then build the ultimate one :D

Yeah it would probably be pretty expensive for fittings. You could always hire a welder at your local machine shop. Perhaps your already willing dad would chip in a few bucks to help?

he didn't buy it... he works at Duke University as a chairman, and had the truck with him and recently they had been doing some highpressure water mains and they were throwing away the left over pipe.... and my dad was like :O THOMASS!!!!!

i would have to go with a high pressure cannon (be hard to get a right Fuel to air mix with hairspray) or use metered LP with a 10 gal LP tank!?

The trouble is getting the right reducers

Definitely invest in some welding as DYI suggests; without some type of welding, this pipe is unfortunately worthless. Sure, you could build a big combustion without welding... but thats kinda bland compared to a 10" hybrid or pneumatic.

Brog, welding is dirt cheap in most cases. I doubt that the whole job of welding the plates on and a union on the front would cost more than $100 at a welding shop, especially if you tell them what it's for. I got 18" of 2.5" diameter hardened steel round bar for $4 dollars for the valve casing on my BB gun (which is currently delayed).

And how is it unfortunate that your dad condones spudding? Isn't that a good thing for you?

A lot of people get the words "condones" and "vetoes" mixed up for reasons I don't particularly understand - but I suppose the word "condone" does sound a bit negative.
I'm used to the confusion, and I assumed he meant "vetoes" from the context.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Wow you are very lucky to get your hands on steel pipe that big
Im actually kind of jealous :angry6: Well whatever you do its going to cost a lot of money I would go the high pressure pnuematic rought but the hybrid one works too.

You lucky bugger :o

If I try getting silver steel round here in 2.5" it would be about £50 for that length.

When I read the size of this pipe, I can only think of one thing, MORTER!!!
Bury it in the ground half way, find a ball that fits a little loose, squirt flammable liquid, (zippo lighter fluid) all over the inside of the pipe, stand back and flick a match in. Don't be in the way of the ball or what ever you use for ammo. These kind of cannons/morters are great fun!
