I have seen many pages that cite 40-45 psi as an optimal pressure range. Why is this, and is it a bad idea for me to increase the pressure?

If you have a smaller tank of compressed air, using a lower pressure extends the life of it but it can still work well.high pressure=morepower and less continous flow of air if u dont have a big suply.
