I had this idea in mind for valves similar to, and like the Orbit sprinkler valves. What if the factory by-bass in the diaphragm of the valve was blocked off and an external one-way valve installed in it's place? I've no idea if this has been done before, but here's a picture I made in "paint".

Took a while to comprehend that drawing.

What I'd expect is a faster resealing of the diaphragm but also a greater wastage of gas.

Is there any real need for it?

This is a great idea but yes it has been done before Im not sure where I saw this done or who did it but it has been done before .
Nevertheless it is a really good idea that wouldnt be too hard to accomplish so thumbs up to you for coming up with a pretty good idea eventhough it has been done before.

The idea is that the only wasted gas is the pilot volume behind the diaphragm because the one way valve will stop any air from the chamber coming out the pilot, as is what happens a bit with a stock Orbit Watermaster style valve. This type of mod can also help those with a leaky valve. By putting a stronger spring in the one way valve and filling from the blowgun side, a higher pressure is achieved behind the diaphragm creating more pressure against the sealing face.

Oh whoops, I was thinking of the valve the other way around.

Should be exactly like a barrel sealing diaphragm valve then and a great idea.

Interesting design Matheusilla.

I think your design would be particularly helpful for people who use a hand pump to pressurize via the pilot volume. With your mod 100% of the early air goes to closing the valve, none of it leaks into the chamber or barrel via the bypass / equalization hole. Only when the pilot volume is pressurized above the check valves pressure limit does air start to move into the chamber. Of course, by that time, the diaphram is well sealed. You might want to consider a pop-off type valve instead of just a one-way valve. I think you would want a pop-off with a pretty low rating, perhaps just 5 psi. (Which starts to look the same as a generic one-way valve  )

I would think that here would be a small beneficial affect on overall performance since less air is wasted through the equilization hole during firing, and the valve might also open just a tiny bit faster.

Yes! Exactly what I'm getting at. Thanx for all the positive responses :)

If you could make a how to, or more a detailed explanation of how to work this, I think i would understand it better

You fill chamber from the pilot volume but only before a one way valve at say 5 psi lets air into the chamber?
