I just though about this the other day, I know at least one person has tried it without success (Not including me).

The challenge:
Can you turn a potato shot from a gun into french fries as it travels through the air?

Not that proving this will have any real benefit to anyone, but it would be interesting to see what ideas are used. If no one here can do it, it might be something the mythbusters should try.

(Edit: by the way, this isn't just a theory thread. In other words, go grab some potatoes and make a mess.

Upsize the cannon to have a huge barrel and chamber, shoot it through the fires of hell, and I think we may have some business 8)

Yeah, I think a tennis or badminton racket would work the best, since the squares in the racket are almost french fry shaped. The only problem with making french fries with a cannon is that you have to figure out a way to stop the potato once it is cut up. Maybe try a long bag after the racket? (think giant condom)
It's hard to soar with eagles when you're working with turkeys.

the potato would blow a hole clean through a tennis racket.
Im making my own tennis racket pattern but out of strong thick wire.

1/4" box wire nailed to some kind of frame with a catch pot on the other side.

Well you wouldn't shoot it at full power, maybe 25 PSI.

I'm a tennis player, and If you get it strung with certain string it might be possible, think about a 100mph serve getting returned, its alot of force, and less than a potato, but It could be possible with really good strings.

The solution is obvious - go into a sports shop and ask if they'll re-string a tennis racket with piano wire. That would be fun.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
