need help with car audio

yesterday while driving my subs stoped working, so i thought it was the amp, so i checked everything out, the amp is getting power, and all the fuses are good, i checked the remote wire at the head unit, its okay, i bought new rca jacks because the old ones are kinda bent and beat up, but the new ones did not work. So i grabbed my old amp that still worked when i pulled it out, and hooked it up, it has power, but is not getting to the subs.
Can anyone help me? did i over look anything ....i cant stand music without the bass

Use a muti-meter to check for any kind of DC voltage coming out of the speaker wires at all, if there is check your grounding, if that aint it hook any kind of speaker up to see if that works. If the voice coils are burnt, you need new subs.

thanks jrrdw, i hooked up a speaker and it worked...so I 1ook one sub out of its box and played with the spider, and it would pick up a signal, so the voice coil is not dead, its the spider it fell off ... but both subs died simultaneously, seems wierd that both spiders fell off at the same time...i think, i havent pulled the other one out of its box yet...

Anyways, when i found out that i can make the sub work holding the spider in a certain way, i superglued and taped it there, for now that sub works, but if it makes it to Monday I will be surprised...I was going to buy a new/better set of subs anyways, just not so soon.

Yea my brother had the same problem with one of his speakers rite out of the box brand new. I told him to take it back but he tried to fix it, and it has given him nothing but trouble every since! He just said the other day he should have listened to me, now he's kicken himself in the but for it, i tried to tell him.....

The main problem is when a spider is ruined is becuase your amp is pushing to hard to run the subs,and that causes them to distort and loose control and sometimes rip out the spider.It may seem weird but its better to run a bigger amp and over power the subs a little then to run a lower power becuase there is les damage to them.

i kinda understand how "clipping" can somehow damage a sub because of too little power and amp is overworking to feed the powerhungery subs, and i know my amp is rated at 800w RMS, and my 2 subs have a combined RMS of 1200watts, but the subs are cheap, so i assume they are overrated

Pyramid, i should have known, i've never seen anything really good with them. Didn't they come out with the fluid filled speakers? They were a joke! Just like fishing lure's, made to catch the fishermen, not the fish.

ive heard about the same amount of good/bad things from Pyramid, but I did not know anything about car audio when me and my friend bought them, brand new at a pawnshop i think they were $65, and from looking at the pyramid site, pyramidcaraudio.com ,they are the best series Pyramid made, and there site is a big CF, they dont even have my subs up there, but if you look under the "woofer" link the 1200w pentagon subs are just like mine, but mine are round. You can see they got lazy with the pictures, the 1200w pentagon subs pic are the same as 1000w pentagon subs.
