My mini cannon

Miniature guns are novelty custom, unique, and sometime downright crude! Common construction materials often include pill bottles or pens. Show us your work!

Here's my Mini. It's one of those new clear HDPE film cans with a pen tube and a piezo strapped to it. Currently it's a sort of "spray and pray" thing with the not-completely-empty butane tank from the lighter I cannibalized. around 1.5 seconds seems to do it...

It'll send a spit wad clear across a room, at least 30 feet. Stings at 10ft.
For some reason I haven;t tried q-tips yet and all the tic-tacs I had available were jumbo-sized ones. I imagine normal tic-tacs would leave welts..

I took a picture of the spark-gap, but it was all washed-out looking..

Butan seems to be a good choice of fuel for mini's. Is this your first mini? Pretty cool! I've read where Axe body spray works good also, 2 pumps is what I read.

This is my first mini. I used butane because it was handy, I mean I just took apart a lighter to get the piezo so i figured "why not?". I try to avoid Axe because I think it smells dreadful.... how it manages to sell I'll never know..

Pizlo: yes, it was just " one those things were you just used what you had to built something". It's a pen tube hot-glued to a film cannister and a sparker stuck to it with electrical tape.

Anyway, thanks for the comments. :)

I'm eventually going to replace the solid-core wire connecting the piezo to the spark gap with more flexible stranded multi-core wire, because the solid core stuff is starting to get metal fatigue...

Lol, how is hot glue standing up to a mini combustion? I agree with you Spedy, Axe does smell dreadful.

The hot glue is holding up really well so far. It was mainly used to anchor (spelling?) the barrel. The hole was originally really small for the barrel so I didn't need to use a ton of the stuff.... I'll have to take a pic of the inside of the chamber at some point.

Also, I forgot to mention that I used a staple as an ammo stop in the other end of the barrel...

I find that the piezos from Scripto lighters are REALLY high quality and don;t ware out unless there is some odd defect. Unfortunately, that isn;t a Scripto piezo, but the one I'm using now doesn't seem to be waring out anytime soon..
