Air Compressor Corrosion

hey guys, the water drainer on my compressor just broke so i took it out and replaced it with a 1/4 ball valve do you guys think this is more effective on draining every single drop of water from the compressor, then the stock drain valve they had?

Nah, not really anymore effective. My only concern would be that the ball valve is a lot easier to open than the normal drain cocks. You might accidentally open it by knocking up against something protruding up from the floor or ground.

doesn't it has more flow then a normal drain valve? and the valve handle is protected by that little cliff there so it wont open automaticly, well i dont even bring the compressor anywhere since i have 50 feet of hose.

You're just talking about a gravity fed drain and only relatively small amounts (typically) of water so efficiency isn't really going to be in play here.

You'll be fine with the ball valve. Just keep in mind its vulnerability. They make drain cocks dribble and difficult to manipulate for a reason.

brass is better
start w/valve open it blows out the water that has condensed over night

I said brass is better. The original valves are crap. Break easily and are hard to open.

oh yes, the original valve broke cause i couldn't open it with my hand so i tried using pliers and i gently turned it and it snapped in half

probably but when i opened up the original valve and looked into the tank with my flashlight everything was prefectly black no sign of rust yet

soooooo when you drain the thing, just add a barrel of some sort and pop a couple of shots off

haha, kinda dangrous though i just drain it and it blew some specks of sand into my skin and a start bleeding little droplets, i put a little hose to direct the air somewhere else now so it doesnt hit me. But when i drain it a bunch of ice forms around the edges of the valve

still rekon a gravity fed mag marble gun , you would be good for quite a few shots with enough pressure in the compressor lol
