Homemade stirrup pump ( high pressure)
Be aware> the maximum pressure a co2 tank can take is about 70atm. As co2 is liquid inside the bottle it doesnt exert as much pressure. So dont c a Co2 bottle as a airbottle lol.Hawkeye wrote:While you could fill a paintball tank to 800-1000 psi with a homemade pump it will fire more powerfully and give fewer shots due to the difference between air and CO2.
It would still be handy.

dont worry ant, i was thinking of using an HPA bottle.... lol.
If anyone knows how to get to the 3000 PSI needed to fill these let me know..... (and it cant be a Scuba Tank, although that is an option).
Anyway, Back on topic.
I am constructing a version of this pump as we speak with a .25" pump bore. Im not sure what "compression ratio" this gives me but it should get me to a pretty high pressure without much effort. Might take a while, but thats besdes the point.

Depends on how long you make the body, the longer it is then the higher pressures you can achieve.VH_man wrote:I am constructing a version of this pump as we speak with a .25" pump bore. Im not sure what "compression ratio" this gives me

I did some calculations last night. I with a 0.5cm diameter piston you can pump to 300atm. You need to push it down by about 60kg. But yeah it may take very long lol. The volume in your pump cylinder would then convert to 1/300 that volume in the highpressure tank. So for one liter at 300atm you would need 300 liters(0.3 m^3) of pumped air(atmospheric pressure) lol. If your pump is 0.5meters long(9.8E-6 m^3) this would take 30,000 pumps if I am not mistaken.VH_man wrote:dont worry ant, i was thinking of using an HPA bottle.... lol.

(whistles)
Im going to figure out a different way to do this........ and use the mini-bore pump for something "pengun" sized.
(WOOT 1000th Post.... have i really been here that long... lol)
(thank you Spudfarm for pointing that out)

Something like this perhaps?

Or, more practically try a two stage pump like those used for pcp rifles.
