Where the air input is blocked off. I assume you used an oring or something to seal the whole system when the pipe is still in the backwards postition. You were talking about some leaking, but not too much> that sounds pretty nice.

No seals at all, it's just a tight fit ;)

From my experience it is hard to get a tight fit when using metals. But yeah k, I guess you are ganna fix the leak though right? What are you thinking of?>

Metals only, yes, but when you're casting the epoxy around the metal component, the fit is very tight. Not leakproof, of course, but leaks are negligible.

I hope this idea didn't die with this thread... I have an idea!
The bolt will not blow back on it's own because there is no force acting on, well not enough. So why not add a detent so the ammo stays in the barrel longer, air pressure builds, and the rod blows back!
I love lamp

this might work at higher pressures
Image

remember BtB's pnushnikov and all that crxx about having delayed blowback ?

well guess why it was delayed?
(becasue it might work on its own... you just need to use larger bore and higher pressures than JSR)

I had tried this (rather obvious ;P) solution with flared out 0.22 pellets, effectively acting like a detent, and no success. At 100 psi there was simply too much friction. Granted, now I have 8 times that to play with, but that now means that a simple BBMG is good enough :D

What I don't like about the design is that it is fundamentally flawed, in that the valve starts to close and breech starts to open at the moment of firing, it will be quite a balancing act to get it together and working well.

well I didn't say that your design is flawless... but that the blowback can work

anyway I think you just have to modify your original design... if you have a look at it it isn't that bad...

...add a DCV or an aircylinder here and there and it might work :D

You know that excuse works for us, but someday, in the future, when your wife asks why you cannot have children, some suggestions will no longer be valid :D

You know, if this turns out to be practical, with some modifications you might have a point about this design working at higher pressures...

I see that you realized that it would be good to have a mechanism that closes off air supply when the gun fires :D

It's more the idea that one of the inconveniences of the valveless/popoff concept is a pressurised magazine. Not that I've given up on that though, ordered a tube bending set ;)

btw, pending the day with a couple of your countrywomen tomorrow ;)
